A local company sold a sensor that detects biological weapons attacks. It was to be mounted on a Nato warship.
The sensor was not designed to take acceleration forces. Warships are subject to many different kinds of vibrations; waves and water dynamics, irregular weather shocks, the potential for weapons attacks such as a missile hitting the ship. That means low shock, low frequency events as well as high shock high frequency events, all in 3 dimensions. Not a simple task!
We designed a cage to hold the device. We simulated it through all the expected frequencies and shocks, and made sure that the sensor could survive the trails ahead of it. We provided this design to the sensor company, who were able to successfully install their sensor in the Nato warship.
